Though you probably already vaccinate your pet against harmful diseases, and you clean your pet's teeth to prevent periodontal disease, you may not be aware of the skin diseases that could pose a threat to your pet's health. Examples of common pet skin diseases and conditions include:

• Mange - A condition caused by parasitic mites that cause itching, hair loss and crusting of the skin. Mange can worsen if not treated by veterinarian.

• Fungal Infections - Like humans, pets can contract ringworm, which is very contagious and requires veterinary attention.

• Dry Skin - Pets can experience dry skin from excessive washing or seasonal changes.
