Orange County Veterinarian Encourages Pet Vaccinations

Vaccinations for dogs and cats.jpgHousehold pets like dogs and cats can attract disease and infection if they are not vaccinated. Vaccinations for dogs and cats can sometimes save their lives. Kittens and puppies are especially susceptible to infectious diseases. Keeping your pets healthy and protecting them from harmful illness is important to our veterinary staff at Trinity Pet Hospital. Our animal clinic will counsel you about which vaccines are best for your particular pet.

Animal Clinic Counsels Pet Owners About Vaccinations

In our clinic we offer core and non¬-core vaccinations for dogs and cats. Core vaccines are typically given to all dogs and include Parvovirus, Distemper, Canine Hepatitis, and Rabies these immunizations are recommended for most dogs. Non-core are more specialized they are given on a case-by-case basis. The non-core vaccines include Bordetella Bronchiseptica, Borrelia Burgdorferi, and Leptospira bacteria.

Cats are required to have similar immunizations that will protect them from infections, disease and illness. The core vaccines for cats are Feline Panleukopenia, and Feline Calicivirus/Herpesvirus and non-core vaccines consist of Feline Leukemia, Chlamydia, Feline Infectious Peritonitis, and Ringworm. Non-core vaccines for cats depend on whether they are an indoor or outdoor pet. If they are an outdoor pet then they tend to get exposed to different types of diseases.

Vaccinating your pets has been proven one of the easiest ways to aid them in living a long, healthy, pain-free life. Immunizations will help prepare your pet's body to fight against common diseases and illnesses that can plague your pet for life. The immune system will be prepped and ready to resist the infection.
